У статті розглядається використання мови як засобу трансформації психічної енергії для перетворення оточуючої дійсностіThe combination of Biblical idea of being responsible for one’s words with folk image of language and speech as a powerful instrument of transforming the reality is discussed. Concept WORD is seen as logos, that is the representation of life, existence, being as itself taken from the Bible. This idea is accepted in the Ukrainian mentality, but it had been transformed into the so called ‘word magic’ that became a tool for modifying the future through wishes and holiday ritual folk songs and actions. Used in all spheres of human life, word or language had become a means for stimulating children’s development, both mental and physical, evaluating measure for human behavior, and the way of punishing those who deserve it by cursing.
