dc.description.abstractДосліджено роль університетських бібліотек України у формуванні та збереженні документальної спадщини промоції здоров'я. Проаналізовано типологію фондів, освітні програми, наукові дослідження, цифрові ресурси. Визначено виклики фінансування, кадрові проблеми, безпеку даних. Окреслено перспективи цифровізації, міжвідомчої співпраці, впровадження міжнародних стандартів.
dc.description.abstract1The role of Ukrainian university libraries in the formation and preservation of documentary heritage of health promotion has been investigated. The study analyzes the typology of collections, educational programs, scientific research, and digital resources. University libraries accumulate various types of documents - from rare early printed books to modern digital resources, provide access to educational, scientific, and methodological materials. The historical evolution of library collections development is traced, showing transformation from accumulation of medical treatises to creation of comprehensive information systems. Special attention is paid to rare and valuable publications, including collections of the National Scientific Medical Library of Ukraine, which preserves over 1.6 million items, significant portion of which is included in the State Register of National Cultural Heritage. Educational programs on health promotion, particularly the discipline "Health Promotion" are mandatory components of training specialists in public health at doctoral and master's levels. Libraries ensure access to the full spectrum of necessary materials and support development of academic integrity and critical thinking skills. Digital transformation of library collections is a strategic development direction. Digitization of rare and valuable publications, creation of electronic catalogs and repositories ensures preservation of documentary heritage, expansion of access, and integration into the global information system. Leading university libraries actively implement open access systems, creating electronic archives with educational programs, scientific publications, and methodological materials. Inter-institutional cooperation effectiveness is demonstrated through partnerships between the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Library Country Charitable Foundation, and the Ukrainian Library Association. Within such partnerships, joint information campaigns, educational initiatives, methodological support, and targeted library collection development are implemented. Libraries actively engage in health knowledge popularization by organizing exhibitions, lectures, seminars, trainings, information campaigns, and working with various age groups and vulnerable population categories. Challenges have been identified: insufficient funding complicates acquisition of new publications and equipment modernization; shortage of qualified specialists requires continuous professional development and digital competencies enhancement; growing cybersecurity threats necessitate protection of electronic resources; martial law leads to infrastructure destruction and collection losses. Development perspectives are associated with deepening digitization through implementation of artificial intelligence and machine learning, creation of integrated information networks, expansion of inter-departmental cooperation, development of innovative services, and strategic recovery planning with international investment attraction. University library collections perform fundamental functions in forming and preserving documentary heritage of health promotion, ensuring knowledge continuity, supporting educational programs and scientific research, implementing educational activities, and promoting development of medical literacy and healthy behavioral patterns among population.
