Most studies of transient phenomena and processes are conducted using FEM analysis software packages, and the study of ballistic firing processes is no exception. Ballistic processes are conventionally divided into internal and external ballistics. The former occur prior to the bullet leaving the barrel and are characterized by the conversion of gunpowder combustion energy into the potential energy of the gas flow, with its subsequent conversion into the kinetic energy of the bullet. External ballistics considers the flight of the bullet and the influence of ambient interaction factors on it from the muzzle to target impact, including the processes that characterize its complete stopping. In ballistics, the most critical area of research involves the phenomena at the firearm's muzzle, where the transition from internal to external ballistics takes place. The study of these phenomena and their defining processes is of particular importance in solving applied problems related to the development of state-of-the-art suppressors. Modeling transient internal ballistics processes is a complex, resource-intensive task characterized by high temperature fields of 2500–3000 K and total pressures that can reach 3200–4500 atm for small arms. Modeling all internal ballistics phenomena for every correlated firing study of a typical firearm represents an inefficient use of time and computational resources, and therefore requires simplification
