dc.description.abstract1Brazing is the primary joining method for cast heat-resistant alloys that cannot be welded by fusion. During brazing, the filler metal forms an intermediate interlayer with properties different from those of the base material, which significantly influences the stress–strain state (SSS) of the joint during cooling. This study investigates the effect of plastic deformation and the yield strength of the interlayer on the SSS of cylindrical units made of a heat-resistant alloy after brazing. Finite element modeling was performed for specimens with a 0.08 mm interlayer subjected to cooling from 1270 to 1100 °C, considering different ratios of the coefficients of linear thermal expansion and yield strengths of the interlayer and base metal. The results show that stresses are concentrated mainly in a narrow zone near the outer edge of the joint and within the interlayer, while most of the joint remains almost stress-free. Plastic deformation develops primarily in the interlayer and increases with decreasing interlayer yield strength and increasing thermal expansion mismatch, without changing the overall nature of the SSS. These findings highlight the importance of selecting appropriate interlayer properties to ensure the reliability of brazed joints in heat-resistant alloys.
