dc.description.abstract1 | According to the department's assignment, the master's thesis investigates the cooling system of a diesel engine type DM-185 (12FC18,5/21,5 Ne = 2416 kW, n = 1900 rpm), intended for the power unit of the quarry dump truck BELAZ-7560. The aim of the work is to select the optimal cooling system and determine its rational parameters. To substantiate the choice of the best system, the structural and thermomechanical parameters of the compared systems and all their heat exchangers have been identified. The Beryslav Machine-Building Plant approached the Internal Combustion Engines Department of the National University of Shipbuilding to conduct a preliminary analysis of the ЕС12А system. The Internal Combustion Engines Department has extensive experience in developing engine cooling systems, and I was tasked with analyzing the cooling system proposed by the plant based on the department's developments and proposing an alternative system. Thus, the analysis of the proposed cooling system scheme and the development of an alternative variant are relevant tasks. During the assignment, I utilized pre-existing calculation programs for cooling systems and their heat exchangers, which I had studied in the course "Design of Internal Combustion Engine Cooling Systems" and were provided to me by the department. In addition to the calculation programs for systems and their components, I employed simulation programs for the engine's working cycle in a differential form. These programs were also developed by the faculty members and made available to me for the project. Based on the aforementioned software, I conducted the necessary calculations, generated graphical representations, and justified the selection of the optimal solution. Based on the conducted work, it was determined that the proposed cooling system, type ЕС12А, is not the most efficient. An alternative system, type 2РК1М, proposed in the project, allows for a reduction in the mass of all heat exchanger cores in the system by 297 kg (with the total mass of the system's cores being 952 kg). Additionally, the proposed cooling system can achieve the required temperatures of the heat carriers using 32 radiator partitions, while the ЕС12А -type system requires 46 partitions. The airflow rate in the proposed system is 60 kg/s – 20 kg/s less than in the ES12A system. The proposed system employs a single circuit and a single pump, instead of two circuits and two pumps. The water flow rate is 29.4 kg/s – 6.1 kg/s less. Thus, the proposed system is simpler, less expensive to manufacture, and more cost-effective in operation. | |
