| dc.description.abstract1 | The paper examines the role of artificial intelligence in the process of teaching and learning foreign languages online. Both the advantages and risks of using AI-supported platforms are described. Among the advantages, the positive impact of artificial intelligence on personalization and motivation for learning foreign languages is identified. Available platforms that are already widely used in self-regulated language learning are described, as well as several new tools that are increasingly being used in this process. Their comparative characteristics are created according to such criteria as accessibility, cost, emotional support, personalization, gamification, speech tools, etc. Special emphasis is placed on the use of such tools in online foreign language classes under the guidance of a teacher. At the same time, the challenges and risks of AI platforms in learning foreign languages are analyzed, namely: unethical use, overreliance on it and the resulting decrease in the level of cognitive activity and critical thinking of students. Pedagogical recommendations are proposed regarding the ethical use of AI in the process of teaching and learning foreign languages, improving the digital literacy of teachers, and examples of the use of AI in the development of foreign language lesson plans are provided. | |
