dc.description.abstract1Abstract. This article considers the issues of substantiating the icebreaker selection to ensure the year-round uninterrupted cargo turnover at the sea port. In winter navigation, ice conditions in the basin of the Azov Sea are almost extreme, which affects the work of existing types of icebreakers. The safety of ice navigation in the shallow Azov Sea directly depends on the prevailing hydrometeorological conditions in the autumn-winter period, namely, on the air temperature, wind, sea surface temperature, and seawater salinity and, consequently, on the severity of winter. Therefore, the study and recording of weather conditions is a very urgent task when planning the safety of navigation in the ice conditions in the Azov Sea. Its necessity is substantiated taking into account the effectiveness of use at any time of the year. The publication also includes the graphs of the ice situation in the Azov Sea during winter.uk_UA
