dc.description.abstract1Abstract. Historical and current experience of the use of marine mammals as part of biotechnical systems of leading maritime states has been generalized. An underwater biotechnical system (UBTS) (from the Greek Bios — life, techne — skill), or a marine mammals system, is a biotechnical system using specially trained marine mammals. Marine biotechnical systems are created to perform complex tasks on and under the surface of seas and oceans. Marine animals have ideal adaptation mechanisms, so they are well tamed and trained. In Ukraine, the research in the field of hydrobionics, UBTS synthesis and use was carried out by the Scientific Research Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “State Oceanarium”, the Institute of Applied Problems of Physics and Biophysics of the NAS of Ukraine (formerly the Scientific and Engineering Technological Center of BTS Sonar of the NAS), National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics, Design department “Storm”, Institute of Hydromechanics of the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding and others.uk_UA
