dc.description.abstract1Ukraine is a country with low quality of fresh water; there are regions with its deficiency. One of the possible solutions to this problem is the desalination of the brackish water from surface and groundwater sources by using heat of the mixture before the contact condenser in gas-steam turbine plants. The plants produce electricity and heat energy for the needs of the industrial, agricultural complexes and the population of Kherson, Mykolaiv and Odessa regions. The studies were carried out employing a mathematical model of heat-mass transfer processes in the contact condenser with the use of an evaporative apparatus of the boiling type and an evaporative cooler for obtaining the desalinated water, which is characterized by the indicator of the water generation. Both methods of using the heat of the gas-vapor mixture for the desalination of the brackish water enable providing stable generation of desalinated water in excess throughout the year taking into account the needs of the plant proper in the water. However, the use of the desalination units of the boiling type is more effective for these areas.uk_UA
